IdemoLab is applied for fast innovation of IoT concepts and IoT solution design using real sensors, electronic components, software and hardware. It is a unique facility that combines innovation methods such as design thinking and corporate innovation with electronics engineering. The value for organisations using IdemoLab is the fast creation of functional preto- and prototypes that can be tested an evaluated by real users under real-life conditions.

At our customers’ disposal, we have a large collection of existing IoT solutions, a library of IoT components, an innovation design environment, an electronics workshop, and much more, to be used for inspiration. 

Physically located in Hørsholm, Denmark, IdemoLab is available to you when developing IoT-based solutions with our IoT team. IdemoLab is also available to the members of Nordic IoT Centre

Internet of Things in smart city planters

Aqumi (previously Byland), a Danish company selling solutions for automatic watering of urban green spaces, planters, and facilities, wanted to integrate IoT sensors in their solution, so that their customers could better plan their work flow. IdemoLab supported Aqumi with a user and context study that resulted in a cloud integrated energy harvesting and IoT water sensor solution. Field tests with the developed demonstrators confirmed the efficiency of the concept with an optimized route planning resulting in significant saving on human and material resources.

East West Instore Solutions 

East West Instore Solutions is a worldwide sales group for electronic shelf labels for retail chains. As part of an innovation project (Next Step), the batteries in the shelf label could be replaced completely by indoor solar cell technology. This was possible by redesigning the products electronics towards lower power consumption, integrating efficient and smart solar energy harvesting power management, which is fed by cost efficient state-of-the-art solar cell technology for indoor use.

We didn’t know very much about energy harvesting and the potential of this technology before we started the project. It was something of an eye-opener to discover that, in premises with little or no sunlight, we could harvest energy capable of supplying power for the shelf labels. ERNIT

ERNIT is a Danish company developing a digital "piggy bank" for children and their families. Together we worked on the concept, adapting their ideas to the reality of producing electronic products and iterated on electronic sketches to try out interactive elements.

The most valuable thing was having IdemoLab helping us test our ideas in the field. Creating a physical prototype and a game as a platform for feedback from the children was genius and provided us with many insights from the user.
